Elizabeth Pacelli’ s testimony,
born in 1880, Pope’s younger sister.
Since he was a child, Eugenio proved to be very inclined to God’ s things, he willingly prayed, listened to religious instructions, and served Mass with great devotion. It can be said that it was naturally inclined to works of mercy, as he felt prayer taste. He wanted mum to teach me, when I was just two years, beyond the Hail Mary, even the Our Father.
When mum told us about the crucifix, Eugene used to say that he would have dead on the cross willingly, but without nails.
At the age of about twelve years old, mum and dad, having noticed these inclinations, bought him items needed to erect an altar and clothes needed for the Mass. I remember that he dressed up and recited all Mass prayers, I used to act as an altar girl, omitting only consecration words.
Once, one of our sick aunt felt sorry for not beign able to attend May functions; he offered to get the May month in the house, and every night he held a little speech!
